WHERE I COMe FROM

I was born and raised in beautiful Saigon, Republic of Vietnam from a family filled with Vietnam military and government officials. When the North Vietnamese communists invaded Saigon on April 30th, 1975, I was forced to escape with just the clothes on my back on a ship my father captained as he led me and nearly 5,000 others from Vietnam, to the Philippines, Guam, and finally the United States of America.

The pain and suffering my family felt at the hands of communists strongly ignited my fire and passion to fight and make sure this same reality is not experienced in the United States.

After arriving in Seattle, Washington early June 1975, I began working as a janitor on a graveyard shift at a local community college. Despite being amidst law school when fleeing Vietnam, I restarted my college education at the University of Washington while continuing my graveyard shift. After much dedication and hard work I graduated as a mechanical engineer in March 1980 and proudly proclaim myself as a Washington Husky.

A THRIVING CAREER

After graduation, I accepted an offer to join General Electric as a manufacturing engineer in the Manufacturing Management Program at Nuclear Energy Division and concurrently attended San Jose State University System Engineering graduate program. In June 1982, I completed my education and training.

I continued to work for General Electric Nuclear Energy Division, and became Manager Manufacturing Engineering at Harris corporation in 1984, at John Fluke in 1986, at Advanced Technology Labs in 1988, and in 1990, got an offer to be on the engineering staff of Rocket Research (R&R)—a start-up company in Space Electronics that designed and built small rocket engines for use to maneuver satellites on orbit.

I spent the next 21 years with this company, through different owners with mergers, before it was finally sold to Aerojet. In 2011, I joined International Rectifier, as Senior Program Manager, responsible for multi-million dollars space programs, and in 2015, accepted another offer to be 1 of 5 Senior management staff team members responsible for profit and loss of Sparton Corporation's Georgia division. Following all of this, I founded my own company in 2018, CTH Consulting Services.

I decided to officially retire in July 2021 at the age of 67 to start a new life in American politics.

A passion for politics

My interest in politics and creating change began at a young age in Vietnam, but my interest in U.S. politics started when Ronald Reagan was elected President. I passionately agree with his Peace Through Strength, Supply-Side Economics policies. As a firm believer in conservative principles and values, I have witnessed how a free market, less government, and less taxes would enrich people’s lives.

I also strongly believe in freedom of speech and expression. I believe in the rules of law and support the second amendment. As a former Vietnamese refugee, I understand how the communists stripped people of their freedoms, so I want to protect this country from being transformed into a socialist-communist country.

I am running for Georgia State House District 107 and when elected, I will support all the measures initiated by the administration to reduce negative impacts on Georgians. I will help preserve Georgia and particularly Gwinnett County’s basic rights of freedom of expression, choice, and the right to bear arms. I believe in less government, less tax, and more police to keep our community safe. I believe in prioritizing a high quality education system, and lastly election integrity.

Again, I am Hai Cao, running for Georgia State House District 107.
